small pressings» maisonneuve magazine call for submissions

We're looking for tight short stories - especially ones that reflect our theme(s), although that is not entirely necessary and shouldn't keep you from submitting anything that's great. Works of fiction should be literary, self-contained, and short (max. 4,000 words - but we prefer ones that are 3,000 words or slightly shorter). Generally, we like stories by Canadians, but we make exceptions for big names and high-quality writing. We shy away from genre pieces (mystery, romance, etc.) and novel excerpts (unless they stand alone). We want young writers and character-driven fiction. The most important thing about our fiction selection is that it offers our readers something that is both engaging and unexpected.

Upcoming issue themes:
* Pop(ularity)
* Cities
