The Valley Writers' Guild (www.valleywritersguild.ca) is accepting fiction entries for their 6th Annual John Spencer Hill Fiction Contest. The contest deadline has been extended to JULY 15, 2005.
Stories entered must be in English, unpublished, not accepted elsewhere for publication and cannot exceed 2500 words.
Writers must include two (2) double-spaced copies of their story, one with no identification, the other with full identification (name, address, city/town, postal code, phone number/e-mail);
Grand Prize is $500 and an engraved plaque. Secondary prizes are $200 and $100 and three Honourable Mentions of $20 each.
All winners will be published in the Guild's annual anthology, The Grist Mill, Vol. 14, and receive a complimentary copy of the anthology, along with a year's subscription to our newsletter, The Valley Writers' News.
Fee is $10 per entry -- entries outside of Canada must be accompanied by U.S. funds -- made payable to "Valley Writers' Guild;" Guild members receive one free entry.
Writers may enter as many submissions as they wish but each entry must follow the above guidelines and be accompanied by a $10 fee.
Entries should be postmarked no later than July 15, 2005 and mailed to: The John Spencer Hill Award, c/o The Valley Writers' Guild, Box 534, Merrickville, Ontario, K0G 1N0.
This year's judge is Melanie Fogel, Editor of Storyteller Magazine.
