Announcing the Launch of the Vallum Reading Series 2004 – Montreal
RENOWNED AUSTRALIAN POET APPEARS IN MONTREAL
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
An exciting new literary program is coming to Montreal: the Vallum Reading Series. This series, sponsored by the Vallum Society for Arts and Letters Education (VSFAALE), aims to promote the appreciation of poetry by bringing major literary talent into communities that would not normally be able to access it. The readings in this series will take place in a variety of urban venues, many of which have no traditional links to poetry. In all, the Vallum Reading Series aims to encourage the public to see poetry in new and ever-changing ways.
The Vallum Reading Series 2004 brings you the celebrated Australian poet, essayist and literary critic John Kinsella, reading a selection of his poetry at the Centaur Theatre in lovely Old Montreal.
Date: Monday, October 25, 2004, at 7:30 pm.
Place: Centaur Theatre, 453 Saint-Francois-Xavier St., Montreal
Admission: $5, at the door or in advance
Reception and cocktails will follow.
A portion of the proceeds from this reading will be used for humanitarian relief in Sudan.

[An] Orphic fountain, a prodigy of the imagination …
Harold Bloom, literary critic
Kinsella threatens to become the Whitman, Wordsworth and Spenser … of his country in one fell swoop.
Publisher’s Weekly
In a time when many poets have been taught to “find their voice,” and subsequently get stuck with that voice, Kinsella shows that variety is not only the spice of life but the stuff of true poetic exploration …
Peripheral Light … shines that delicate, indirect light of searching and discovery – as fine writing, or any fine art, often does.
