Vassanji accepted a $25,000 cheque for the book, The In-Between World of Vikram Lall.

"It feels like a mistake," Vassanji said upon winning the award, his second Giller prize. "It felt like a mistake the first time and so this time obviously it's a mistake. I'll accept it in any case."
