You are cordially invited to come and party with Canada's
official hangman, Arthur Ellis, and the Ottawa 'mystery'
community.
This year, for the first time, the Crime Writers of Canada,
Ottawa Chapter, will announce the short list for the Arthur
Ellis Awards simultaneous with the short list announcements
in Toronto. The awards recognize the best in Canadian crime
writing.
At least five Ottawa novels have been submitted to this
year's Arthur Ellis awards including Barbara Fradkin's Mist
Walker, Mary Jane Maffini's Lament for a Lounge Lizard, and
Alex Brett's Dead Water Creek. With the publication of the
Bone Dance anthology from Ottawa's Ladies Killing Circle,
plus the Clue Mysteries from the Crime Queen of Oxford
Station (aka Vicki Cameron), and the continued support of
Ottawa's Storyteller Magazine our region also has over 10
short story writers with more than 30 stories vying for a
place in the short story competition.
So come and party with the hangman on Wednesday May 5th,
7:00 pm, second floor of the Royal Oak Pub on the Canal.
Short lists will be announced at 8:00 pm.
This is a very an informal event and everyone is welcome.
Cash bar.
