The Waterloo-Wellington branch of the Canadian Authors Association is holding a Postcard fiction writing contest open to all residents of Ontario.
1. Stories must be fiction, of any genre, previously unpublished. No personal essays, memoirs or non-fiction please. CAA Waterloo-Wellington reserves the right to reject excessive profanity and explicit sexual or violent content.
2. A maximum of 500 words in length.
3. All entries should be typed and double-spaced with the title appearing on each numbered page. Please include a separate sheet with your name, address, phone, email address (if available), word count and title.
4. The entry fee is $5 per entry, $10 for 3 entries, non-refundable. Multiple entries are welcome.
5. Cheques or money orders should be made payable to Canadian Authors Association.
6. The deadline for submission is April 15, 2004. Entries postmarked after that date will not be accepted. Judging is blind with an impartial final judge. Winners will be notified by the start of June and posted on the web site www.author.ca/caawaterwell after the awards presentation. The awards presentation will be held at our Annual General Meeting on June 5, 2004 at the Button Factory, Waterloo Community Arts Centre, 25 Regina Street South, Waterloo.
7. The top three finalists will have their stories published in the anthology "Voices and Visions" in the summer of 2004. The top three winners in each category will also receive cash awards. Honourable mentions will be chosen.
8. If you wish to have your manuscript returned or receive contest results, send a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage along with your entry to:
