DUNCAN CAMPBELL SCOTT
NON-FICTION PROSE CONTEST

$75 Second Prize

Memoir, short essays, travelogues, biography — we’re looking for non-fiction prose (1,500 2,000 words) in any style and on any topic. ** There is no entry fee.

Rules
1. Entries must be in English and between 1,500 and 2,000 words in length.
2. Entries must be postmarked on or before March 19, 2004.
3. Entrants must live within 100 kilometers of Parliament Hill, Ottawa
4. Put your name, address, telephone number and the title of the piece on a separate piece of paper.
5. Entries will not be returned.
6. Entries must be original and unpublished in any format.
7. The winners will be announced at the Ottawa Literary Awards Ceremony on April 21, 2004.
8. One entry per person will be accepted.
9. The winning entry will be published, online on the Ottawa Literary Heritage Website (capletters.ncf.ca); by entering the contest, the writer grants the necessary permission.

This contest celebrates the life and work of Duncan Campbell Scott (1862-1947), the Ottawa writer who was part of the internationally influential group of Confederation Poets. The DCS Non-fiction Prose Contest is financed by the Duncan Campbell Scott Fund and the Ottawa Valley Book Festival.
