news» NEW EDITOR FOR THIS MAGAZINE

This Magazine is pleased to announce that it has found its new editor. Patricia D'Souza will be taking over the national magazine of politics and culture in early March.

Patricia brings a wealth of experience to the role. She is currently Managing Editor and Senior Reporter at Iqaluit's Nunatsiaq News. She was previously a Copyeditor at the National Post, as well as Features Editor and Managing Editor of Canadian Business. Patricia has also written for This Magazine in the past. Her feature, "Food Fight," (1999) exposed the fate of IGA's unionized workers when the grocer was bought by a union-busting chain. She has also volunteered as a copyeditor for This Magazine on a regular basis since 1999.

Patricia's strong background in business journalism will be put to good use producing the kind of public interest reporting readers look for in This Magazine. In the past, the magazine has exposed bad behaviour by Canadian corporations operating overseas, challenged the ethics of "ethical" mutual funds and exposed the influence the biotech industry wields over the agricultural ministry.

"I'm delighted we've found a new editor as talented and experienced as Patricia," says current editor Julie Crysler. "I have been very impressed with her abilities and I know I'm leaving the magazine in good hands."

This Magazine will be holding a party to celebrate the changing of the editorial guard at the earliest opportunity. Date and location to be announced soon. For further information, please contact Joyce Byrne at 416-979-9429 or publisher@thismagazine.ca.
