On the Black Sand Beach, there were turtles soaking up the sun. They remained there, motionless, for many hours regardless of all the tourists that were walking up and snapping photos.



This is a small puddle that has collected sea salt.

This is a quite a monstrous tree. The girth isn't quite as impressive as the trees ability to grow roots down to the ground from along it's branches. I would imagine that the Banyan is one of the sturdiest trees in the world.

Part way through our hike, we discovered an extremely dense forest filled only with bamboo chutes and fallen leaves to cover the ground. The Bamboo leaves absorb so much of the sunlight, that one has difficulty finding a place where the sun reaches the forest floor.

It's appalling what a train can do. A passing train decapitated this deer and the body was found many, many feet away.
