preface

this was written mostly on transit, between surrey and richmond. while it began as prose, it quickly took on a prose poem structure out of necessity - i had tiny notebooks and the bus was bumpy as hell.

it reads as one long poem, broken into sections. the intention was to capture the repetitive feel of taking the bus and skytrain for up to 4 hrs a day, month after month.

the attempt was to capture the little narratives of a constantly shifting cast of characters. at times there is little more than a transcription of events, at other times there is a constructed reflection of their thoughts and feelings.
