Clams
Lots of clams live on seashores. They usually bury themselves in sand, mud or gravel and send up their siphons to reach the water at high tide. Most clams have two siphons: one that brings in water and one that shoots it out. Water is important to the clam because it brings the clam oxygen and tiny bits of food. Some clams use one of their siphons to suck in food that lies on the shore, like a vacuum cleaner. A clam digs down with its strong foot. The foot also helps the clam pull itself down.
